Passenger Trapped, Airlifted In Jersey Shore Crash: Police

A car flipped and one of its occupants was seriously hurt in a crash on the Jersey Shore, authorities said.

The single-car crash occurred at about 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 26 at Bowne and Whipporwill Valley roads in Middletown.

Patrol officers found that a 16-year-old girl from Belford had been ejected from the vehicle and became entrapped underneath the vehicle when it rolled over, police said.

The girl sustained multiple serious fractures, which were not life-threatening, police said. She was flown via medivac helicopter to Hackensack Meridian Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune,

The driver of the vehicle, an 18-year-old woman from Keansburg, is cooperating in the police investigation, they said.  No summonses had been issued. 

The crash is still under investigation.
